A Berlin-based activist and musician, Mahtab is the daughter of Homayoun Sabetera. Homayoun is accused of smuggling while on his migration route and has been incarcerated in Greece for nearly three years – his sentence is for 18 years, with his appeal trial scheduled for September 2024. Mahtab is actively involved in the Free Homayoun campaign, which advocates for her father’s acquittal, as well as dignified alternatives to the criminalisation of migration, including the freedom of over 2000 migrants facing similar charges in Greece prisons.
